" I believe in a fair deal and providing opportunities for the families and youth of Mount Isa"
Portfolio: Beautification, Parks and Gardens, and Library
I was born in Hughenden and have lived in Mount Isa since 1971. During the majority of that time I have been a local Mount Isa business woman, owning and running a news agency and a hair dressing salon in the city over many decades.
I met and married my husband Larry, and had three children, all boys, and I have since welcomed seven grandchildren.
Representing the community is in my blood. I am honoured to have been a councillor on the Mount Isa City Council for 25 consecutive years, my father was member for Mundingburra in Townsville and my Grandfather was the Mayor of Hughenden. I take great pride in standing up for you, the residents of Mount Isa.
I believe in a fair deal and providing opportunities for the families and youth of Mount Isa. I have been leading the Mount Isa City Council’s “Isa Youth Has Talent” event since inception, and was the chair of the committee for the Family Fun Park from the outset of its conception more than 10 years ago.
I fought hard for a skate park and was involved in delivering the splashes aquatic center upgrade, and numerous beautification projects including the upgrade of the lookout and the CBD. I believe in a clean, well-kept and safe city, and previously on council I looked after the beautification portfolio which was when the CBD upgrade occurred and the maintenance in the CBD was kept up to scratch.
I will continue working hard to ensure the ratepayers and residents of Mount Isa and Camooweal receive fair treatment. I will also be raising new projects to develop our parks with additional infrastructure and free modern facilities. I want to ensure there is easier access for families and young people throughout the city.
