Celebrate Festive Season at Council’s Christmas in the City

The magic of the festive season will be on full display for the community when Council hosts its free Christmas in the City event in November.

In an exciting change from the traditional Carols by Candlelight format, the evening’s entertainment will be held in air-conditioned comfort at the Civic Centre on Friday, November 22, from 6.30pm to 8pm, and feature a concert by ABC Kids favourites Lah-Lah’s Big Live Band supported by the soulful sounds of Mount Isa’s own Pacific Groove, and the energy of Mount Isa School of Dance members.

The event will then move to the Civic Centre lawn for the lighting of the city’s Christmas tree by Mayor Joyce McCulloch, entertainment by the Combined School Choir with the Rolling Tones, led by Kate Hartley, and a visit by Santa Claus, alongside market stalls and food and drink stalls.

Cr McCulloch said everyone was warmly invited to attend the Christmas in the City event and celebrate the festive season together.

“Our Carols by Candlelight and Christmas Tree Lighting events have proven to be incredibly popular, and this year’s Christmas in the City is the best of both worlds and also indoors in the air-conditioned Civic Centre,” Cr McCulloch said.

“We are very pleased to be bringing this event to the community and hope that many people come along to enjoy the local performances, tree-lighting, giveaways, and food and market stalls that will be available in the Civic Centre foyer.”

This event is brought to you by Mount Isa City Council, with support from Glencore Mount Isa Mines.
