Funding Agreement Continues RADF Initiative

Council’s support of the Mount Isa arts community has been guaranteed for another year thanks to a funding agreement between Council and Arts Queensland.

The agreement will enable Council to provide Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) funding for the 2019-20 financial year.

Mayor Joyce McCulloch said she is very pleased that the funding agreement has been signed as it will allow Council to continue to provide financial backing to the local arts community’s activities and initiatives.

“RADF has helped make projects such as the Art on Zinc murals at Buchanan Park, and more recently the art exhibition and workshops by Chern’ee Sutton, a reality,” Cr Joyce said.

“Council has a strong commitment to Mount Isa’s arts and cultural sector and RADF is a big part of that.”

The Regional Arts Development Fund is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Mount Isa City Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.

Minister for the Arts Leeanne Enoch said the Palaszczuk Government was proud to continue its RADF partnership with local governments with an investment of $2.08 million, through Arts Queensland, for the 2019-20 fund.

“This investment will support the delivery of hundreds of arts experiences and professional development opportunities across the state,” Ms Enoch said.

“Projects funded through RADF provide pathways for learning, contribute to the creation of jobs, foster creativity and boost cultural tourism.”
