Tip Tokens to Start Arriving in the Mail This Week
A new tip token system will be rolled out in Mount Isa with residents set to receive their yearly allocation in letterboxes this week.
Each residential ratepayer will receive six tip tokens, which will all be able to be used immediately and will be valid until October 31, 2020.
The tokens will need to be surrendered at the Waste Management Facility upon use and are only valid for domestic vehicles – such as cars, box trailers, vans or utes – that are carrying domestic or residential waste.
Each token provides one free entry for each of the domestic vehicles – a car towing a trailer that are both carrying waste, for example, will require the surrender of two tokens.
Mayor Joyce McCulloch thanks Mount Isa residents for their patience while the new tip tokens system is being implemented.
“The tokens have traditionally been attached to residential ratepayers’ half-yearly rates notices and I appreciate people’s understanding while this new way of distributing tip tokens was being finalised,” Cr McCulloch said.
“This new system will be a lot more secure and will discourage the inappropriate use of tip tokens, such as tokens being copied.”
Council’s Waste Management Facility is on Jessop Drive and is open from 7.30am to 4.45pm, seven days a week.
